A Day Spa in Ubud for Visitors Not Staying at the Hotel
A spa inside a resort can look closed from the outside. There is the gate, the driveway and the feeling that you would be walking into somewhere reserved for hotel guests.
That assumption is understandable, but it does not apply to Akoya Spa. Located within Viceroy Bali, Akoya welcomes both hotel guests and visitors staying elsewhere in Ubud or Bali.
For anyone looking for a day spa in Ubud, that makes the spa an option even if Viceroy Bali is not your hotel.
Open to Guests and Visitors Alike
Akoya Spa welcomes guests staying at Viceroy Bali as well as visitors from elsewhere in Ubud and Bali. The spa’s current reservation system specifically asks guests to indicate whether they are staying at Viceroy Bali. Therefore, it is straightforward to book as an outside visitor.
The spa offers massages, body scrubs and wraps, facials, reflexology, hair treatments, manicures, pedicures and spa packages. Several treatments are also available in the privacy of Viceroy Bali’s guest villas, though facials and hair treatments are not included in the in-villa service.
If you are interested in a particular package, check its current availability when booking, as some experiences may have specific arrangements or requirements.
Getting There From Central Ubud
Akoya Spa is located within Viceroy Bali on Jalan Lanyahan in Banjar Nagi, Ubud. It is around 10 minutes from central Ubud by car, making it practical for a half-day or afternoon visit without requiring an entire day of travel.
If you are travelling by car or ride-hailing service, use Viceroy Bali as your destination. The resort is the more recognisable landmark and will make the final part of the journey easier.
On arrival, let the entrance team know that you have an Akoya Spa booking. The spa is housed in a separate Art Deco-inspired building within the Viceroy Bali estate rather than inside the main hotel building.
There is also parking available on site for visiting guests.
Booking Ahead and Walking In
Walk-ins are accepted, but appointments are strongly recommended. Akoya advises that guests arriving without an appointment may have to wait.
With three single treatment rooms and three couples’ treatment rooms, the spa remains relatively intimate. Availability can become limited during busy periods, particularly if you want a specific treatment time or are visiting as a couple.
A credit card is required to confirm bookings. Reservations can be made directly with the spa at spa@viceroybali.com.
If you already know which treatment you want, booking ahead is the simplest approach.
Treatments Open to Outside Visitors
For a shorter visit, a massage or reflexology session can fit easily into an afternoon in Ubud. Traditional Balinese Massage is available in 60- and 90-minute sessions, while reflexology offers a more focused 60-minute experience. For guests who are genuinely short on time, the 30-minute Back and Shoulder Massage concentrates on a smaller area rather than dividing the session across the whole body.
For a longer afternoon, you can build a sequence around a body treatment and one of Akoya’s relaxation baths. The spa offers several bath experiences, including flower, sea salt, organic citrus, and organic herbs and spices.
The hair and nail salon also makes Akoya useful for visitors staying in Ubud for several days. Manicures, pedicures and hair services can be booked alongside spa treatments, subject to availability.
Pairing a Spa Visit With a Meal
A visit to Akoya Spa does not have to end when the treatment does. Visitors can also combine their spa experience with a meal at one of Viceroy Bali’s restaurants. It will create a longer afternoon and evening without needing to stay at the resort.
Akoya currently offers two couples’ experiences that combine a two-hour spa treatment with dinner. The Romantic Spa and CasCades Couples Treatment includes a three-course dinner, while the Romantic Spa and Apéritif Couples Treatment includes a five-course dinner. Both packages combine a foot bath, Balinese massage, Balinese scrub and Balinese facial before dinner.
For couples visiting Ubud, this makes the spa more than a treatment stop. It can be the first part of an evening, transitioning from wellness to fine dining.
Planning a Day Spa Ubud Visit

The practical advice is simple: book ahead, particularly if you want a specific treatment or salon service. Arrive with enough time to settle in rather than rushing through the entrance immediately before your appointment.
It is also worth leaving some space around your treatment. A massage or body treatment does not need to be followed immediately by another appointment across town. If you are visiting from elsewhere in Ubud, the spa can comfortably form the centre of a slower afternoon.
For anyone comparing day spas in Ubud, the useful question is not simply whether visitors from outside are allowed. It is whether the experience feels complete even when the spa is not attached to your own hotel.
At Akoya Spa, you can arrive as a visitor, take your time with the treatment, and leave when you are ready to continue your day.
