Four Baths at Akoya Spa in Ubud and What Each One Does

At the end of a spa journey, there is a moment of stillness waiting for you. Warm water, rising fragrance, and nothing left to do but breathe. At Akoya Spa in Ubud, that moment comes in four forms, and the relaxation bath you choose shapes the experience in ways that go well beyond personal preference.

Each 30-minute bath is available as a standalone treatment, and all four appear as the final step in Akoya Spa’s signature packages, including the Trekking and Two-Hour Spa, Cycling and Two-Hour Spa, Yoga and Two-Hour Spa, Ladies of Leisure, Gentlemen’s Recharge, and Romantic Couples Treatment.

The Flower Bath

The flower bath is rooted in Balinese spiritual tradition. Petals release natural oils that soften and tone the skin while the fragrance works directly on the nervous system. Flowers are soothing, calming, and cooling, and particularly restorative to the nervous system. A flower bath calms the nerves, opens the heart, and relaxes the mind.

Choose this if you are carrying emotional tiredness alongside physical fatigue, or if this is your first relaxation bath at Akoya Spa.

The Sea Salt Bath

Sea salt contains trace minerals, including magnesium, calcium, potassium, iron, and zinc, that are absorbed directly through the skin during immersion. These minerals relieve stress, ease sore and cramping muscles, soothe stiff joints, stimulate circulation, and soften skin. The sea salt bath is also particularly effective for guests with irritated skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis.

Choose this after an active day, whether trekking through Ubud’s rice fields, cycling through them, or spending a long day on your feet.

The Organic Citrus Bath

Organic orange and lime work against free radicals in the skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and dark spots. The citrus bath also carries antimicrobial properties and brings a brightening, energising quality that sets it apart from the other three.

Choose this if your skin needs brightening after sun exposure, or if you want to feel energised rather than deeply relaxed at the end of your spa day.

The Organic Herbs and Spices Bath

Cloves, candle nut, and eucalyptus work together in warm water to calm inflammation and support the wound-healing process. The antibacterial properties of this spice, which bathes Ubud guests often favour, can inhibit the growth of bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, making it the most therapeutically active of the four.

Choose this if you are experiencing inflammation or deep muscle fatigue. It is also the bath that most closely continues the restorative work of the treatments before it.

The Right Bath for the Right Moment

All four relaxation baths at Akoya Spa in Ubud share one quality: they arrive when the body is already at its most open. After a massage, scrub, and body mask, the bath is the final instruction you give your body before the session ends. Choosing it with intention makes it more than just a soak. It makes it the conclusion that the rest of the day was building toward.

As explored in our guide to the flower bath ritual at Akoya Spa, the bath is rarely just a bath in Bali. In a city whose name derives from the Balinese word for medicine, that distinction matters.
